Mara Intrepids is run on strict eco-principles, with hot water generated by burning used coffee husks, biodegradable waste mulched for compost, and all wastewater recycled through our own on-site constructed wetland. Mara Intrepids club boast of 30 luxurious tents that are widely spread across a large riverside site to ensure you the optimum of privacy and peace.
Each tent is furnished in the classic style of the grand African safaris, with large four-poster beds and handsome reproduction furniture, offset by modern en-suite bathrooms with hot showers, flush toilets and all modern amenities. Each tent sits on a shady raised platform, with sweeping views over the riverbanks where a large variety of animals come to drink.
At night, the restaurant is usually visited by wide-eyed bush babies some of which are menalistic. This part of the reserve receives fewer visitors than the eastern part and as such it is possible to drive long periods without seeing another vehicle.

Mara Explorer Camp is small and exclusive. Consisting of just 10 tents each of which has uninterrupted views of the Talek riverbank. The emphasis is to provide a personal service that meets the individual needs every guest. Private Charters also land at Ol Kiombo which is 15 minutes from the Rekero Tented Camp. Rekero Camp is located inside the Masai Mara Game Reserve at an altitude of 4,800 feet, very close to the confluence of the Mara and Talek rivers.
The camp nestles in riverine forest on the banks of the Talek river. Rekero Camp safari chefs produce appetizing ‘farmhouse’ meals, which utilize skillful blends of flavors and cuisine from both East and West. Special dietary requirements are catered for with advanced warning.
Rekero Camp accommodation includes eight spacious tents, (one family tent and seven tents able to accommodate twins / doubles of triples). All are en suite with flush loos and safari showers. Rekero Camp activities includes Wildlife viewing and bird watching can be done on foot with experienced Il Dorobo and Masai guides, or in custom-built four-wheel drive vehicles which allow intimate yet unobtrusive access to the animals.

Rekero Camp Facilities
Rekero Camp has 24 hour power to provide lighting through a solar powered inverter system. Power is available to charge any electrical items from a central point. There are no power sockets in the tents. Kerosene lanterns are situated in front of the tents to provide subtle lighting to the exterior and front. Mobile phones do work intermittently in the camp.

Little Governors’ Camp is situated at the heart of one of the most game rich areas of the Masai Mara National Reserve. It is set on the Musiara Marshlands, which are watered by the Mara River, the area having traditionally been reserved for Kenya’s colonial Governors.
The area surrounding Little Governors’ Camp is home to substantial herds of elephants, hippos and buffalos whilst also providing a home for the herds of migrating zebra and wildebeest.
The nearby plains are the classical image of savannah Africa, dotted with acacia trees and fringed by the inspiring Siria escarpment. It is hardly surprising that Little Governors’ was the setting for the film ‘Out of Africa’.
Little Governors’ Camp consists of 17 tents spread around the shores of the Musiara waterhole, which acts as the focal point for the site. From the shade of your tent veranda you can relax and enjoy the views as giraffe, elephant, zebra and warthog pass by.
During the evening hippos and elephants graze in the grounds of the camp making the Masai askari (warden) guiding you back to the tent especially comforting. The gas-lit tents are particularly comfortable and spacious with the shower room being especially well-equipped. Candlelit evening meals are of a high standard from a buffet bar and generally are eaten alfresco with views of the nearby Siria escarpment.
Little Governors’ is one of the few camps within the Masai Mara that provide three game drives every day and being a stone’s throw away from the Mara River ensures that the action during the migration season (July-October) is a short game drive away.
The start of your game drive is an adventure in itself, walking beneath the canopy of indigenous forest trees, two fairly steep sets of steps and a river crossing of your own, by hand-pulled ferry. Ilkeliani Camp was built with every effort to preserve the fragile eco-system. Hot water showers are made possible by the burning of chardust or briquettes made from coffee husks which also burn twice as long as normal charcoal. Ilkeliani, Masai Mara will thus remain small in size with only twelve tents to ensure that the eco-system remains in as natural and renewable state as possible.

Aruba Mara Camp is located near Talek gate and borders the Masai Mara. The camp overlooks the Talek River with hippos and crocodiles below. Aruba Mara Camp is a beautiful budget establishment, clean rooms, cold drinks and good food. It is only 100 kilometers from Narok town.
Best way to get to the camp is through Sekenani Gate and then go towards Talek Gate. Through the Talek Gate turn left. Aruba Mara Camp is a few hundred meters on the left. There is also a campsite, and you can use the camp restaurant for food if you do not want to cook.
